Events in the Temple
The Temple at Manjushri centre hosts international, national, and local events throughout the year:
International Kadampa Buddhist Festivals
Every year, the Temple hosts two International Kadampa Buddhist Festivals - the Spring Festival and the Summer Festival - which are attended by people from all over the world.
These Festivals provide an opportunity to receive teachings and empowerments directly from the Founder and Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
The Festivals are open to everyone, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners.
International Teacher Training Programme

Each Summer, Kadampa Buddhist Teachers from over a thousand centres and groups around the world assemble at the Temple for in service training, called the International Teacher Training Programme.
For three weeks they receive teachings from the Deputy Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab, and join in group meditations and discussions.
At the end of the course, they sit an examination and then return to their centres, where they continue their studies by correspondence.
Ordination ceremonies
There are over 700 ordained monks and nuns within the New Kadampa Tradition, living, and often teaching, at centres around the world.
They receive ordination from either the Spiritual Director or the Deputy Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, at one of three ordination ceremonies held each year.
Two of those ceremonies are held at the MKMC Temple, just prior to the annual Spring and Summer Festivals.
Day courses & weekend courses
Throughout the year, day courses, weekend courses, and short retreats are held at Manjushri Centre, and many of these take place in the Temple.
These events are open to everyone, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. For more information on these courses, see the Courses section of this website.
Daily chanted prayers and meditations
On most days of the year, chanted prayers and meditations are held in the Temple.
Everyone is welcome to attend. See the Weekly Calendar for details.
