Drop-in Meditation Classes

Meditation ClassesRegular classes are held in the Kadampa Buddhist Temple at Manjushri KMC and at various venues in nearby towns. For further details about individual classes follow the links at the side.

There is also a regular schedule of chanted prayers with meditations which are held in the Temple. You can find details in the calendar and at the side.

About the classes

Classes are suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators. Everyone is welcome. During the classes the teacher will explain how to meditate and will give practical instructions on how to use meditation to reduce stress and other problems encountered in daily life. Most classes run for an hour and a half. We meditate sitting on chairs to ensure that everyone is comfortable. There is no physical exercise involved.

The general structure of the class:

  • Short Buddhist prayers to prepare for meditation
  • Simple guided meditation
  • Teaching on how to solve problems in daily life
  • Another meditation or questions & answers
  • Brief prayers to complete the session

After the class everyone is welcome to stay for light refreshments.

Attending the class

The classes are organized as short courses, usually 3, 4 or 5 weeks long. Check the calendar for dates. You can attend the whole course or simply drop in whenever you can as each class is self-contained, or you can just come along to try a session.
