The Prison of Self Concern
Sunday 27 September 2009
In today’s world the focus is very much on ‘looking after number one’ and disregarding the needs and happiness of others; looking out for ourself is even seen as a virtue. However, from the point of view of enlightened beings this attitude keep us trapped in the cycle of unhappiness. This course will give us insight into this selfperpetuating cycle and teach us to discover the attitude of cherishing others that will release us from the prison of self-concern.
Being Happy for Others
~ The art of Rejoicing ~
Sunday 6 December 2009
In these modern times it is difficult for anyone to find much joy or happiness, let alone the pure happiness that comes from true inner peace, so why do we get jealous when others find happiness? Jealousy is entirely senseless because it neither decreases the other person’s good qualities and happiness, nor increases our own. Rejoicing, however, has the opposite effect. It creates the cause for us to attain the good qualities and happiness that others are experiencing, and therefore enables us to experience a more joyful life.
